Rockstar Carbon

UPDATE :: Rockstar Carbon frames and complete bikes now available to buy HERE in the USA, and HERE from our UK/European distributors On-One

Just landed, the first of the first production of the much anticipated Rockstar Carbon 29er. Having been in gestation for a considerable period, the production run of three sizes are now on their way through final finishing, with only a small change from these drawings (there’s a tiny gap between the word Titus and the white masked area on the down tube).

Frame weight of the medium sized model (18.7in) is just 6lb with a Monarch rear shock.

We’ll be opening preorders, offering geometry information, and assembling kit to offer complete builds very soon. We expect these to land with us before the end of the year.

As a means of delivering products of the highest quality, Titus recently improved its quality control and production processes. These changes follow a bottom bracket height discrepancy on the El Guapo Version 3. As a result, Titus has delayed the delivery of its El Guapo 29er to ensure:

1) Our suppliers can effectively utilize a revised jigging method designed to improve production consistency;

2) We can properly monitor these improved production efforts, while ensuring that frames are constructed to proper specification.

While Titus has not experienced production flaws with its El Guapo 29er prototypes, to ensure the smoothest initial production-run, we have implemented new and improved quality control measures.

As a result, Titus forecasts a 45-60 day delay to the production run of the initial El Guapo 29ers. Under this revised timeline, production completion is slotted for the beginning of March. The earliest our customers can expect to ride an El Guapo 29er is the end of March.

Considering the buzz surrounding 650B, Titus is keen to finalize its unique take on the 29er with the El Guapo. We believe that our newest addition to the fleet is testament to the fact that Titus supports products just as contemporary as the rest of the industry. As thanks for your understanding, Titus will offer its customers an attractive pre-order coupled with speedy delivery via air freight.

Thank you for your interest and patience,

-Titus Cycles Development Team

 In other news, Titus is currently testing DSP Racing’s Dueler shocks for possible OE fitment to our frames. The initial feedback is very promising.

Due to overwhelming demand we added a ‘Buy USA’ button to our On-One and Planet X stores.  The button will automatically transfer you to our USA web store where our products will ship directly from our warehouse in Portland, Oregon to your door. This saves you time and money!

Way to go Craig!

He took 3rd in this race and 3rd overall in the series on his Titus El Guapo.  Looking forward to what he will do with the Rockstar 29er.

Our big brother Planet X is heavily steeped in track traditions.  So when we became aware that the Alpenrose Velodrome needed help we decided to bring awareness through our social channels.

This winter after thorough power washing of the velodrome, we could see the deteriorating concrete that had been masked by years of layers of paint. It was obvious that substantial work needed to be done to keep the velodrome running. To fix the problems, the straights have been replaced. In the fall, the apron will be removed and replaced as well. This project will make almost a new velodrome and will keep Alpenrose running for the next 20-30+ years. We need the support of the racing community to fund this project.

Please make a tax-deductible donation to support the current renovations at Alpenrose Velodrome. We’ve raised approximately $38,000 of $48,000 to fix the straights. We need another $50,000 to replace in the apron in the fall of 2012.

Order an awesome jersey to support the velodrome! Castelli created this jersey to raise money for the resurfacing of Alpenrose Velodrome. They are $100 ($60 from each jersey goes directly to the velodrome renovations). Men’s and Women’s full-zip jerseys are available. Act now! They are only available until the end of May. The jerseys will ship in July.

Please refer to the size chart, make sure you know what size is right before you order. The jerseys are “trainer cut” which is between race cut and club cut.

We are really excited to add Jeremy to the team here at Titus in Portland, OR.  Jeremy was one of the first Titus Brand Ambassadors and has really stepped up to help out when needed. Jeremy brings with him many years of mountain biking (he still wants anodized purple parts for some reason) and is working on his mediocre cyclocross skills. Eventually he will figure out this whole road bike thing too. We were really only interested in his nunchuck and web/IT skills but he wants to do some writing and socializing too, so we figured we would let him keep you all informed as to what is going on here at Titus (and beyond).

You can follow him and say hi on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, or Google Plus.

We recently did a maintenance update to our shop site and it has magically made our shop site disappear and our emails bounce back.

We are working to get it fixed as quickly as possible and we will update here the moment that it is fixed.

Thank you.

UPDATE;

The bugs in our emails have have been fixed – if you sent us an email and it bounced back, please resend it.

Our shop site is updated, so head over there (here) and check out the amazing sale prices.

We woke up this morning to another grey and wet morning in Portland.

First job was to collect the last of the boxes we were waiting on, containing the prototype On-One tires, and Titus El Guapo handlebars.

After heading into the office to load up the rest of our gear and a quick coffee stop, we were on the road and heading South on the 800 mile road trip towards the promise of sunshine and a cold beer.

We finally rolled into Seaside, CA at 11:45 last night, just in time for a quick shower and 5 and a half hours sleep before heading to the show this morning to get set up for the first day of the 2012 show. After the early morning sea fog had cleared, we were greeted by clear sky’s, no wind, and 70 degree temperatures, a far cry from what we left behind yesterday morning in Portland.

The first day is generally a little quieter than Saturday and Sunday, so if today was anything to go by we are going to be in for a busy weekend. The sun is out, and thousands of racers and fans made it out to Laguna Seca today to enjoy the show.
