We built up one of the prototype El Guapo 29ers for our designer Brant to take to the Alps to test this week. While in the shop we were able to get some quality studio pictures done. Enjoy.

Our prototype Carbon 29er got a great response at Sea Otter, from both press and customers alike. So whats happened since then?
Well……we’ve been putting the 2 prototype frames through their paces on both sides of the Atlantic, check this picture at Lake Garda, Italy. Although we are super happy with the way it rides, afew small details still need fine tuning before production.
Fresh out the the box, the 29er prototype of the El Guapo has arrived in Portland.

Designed for a 140mm fork with 120-140mm rear travel (not adjustable, still working on the final spec). Continue reading Sneak Peek: El Guapo 29 Prototype »

A blurry cameraphone shot of the new El Guapo prototype was shown recently on our Facebook page, and caused a lot of chatting and controversy in some places. This bike was a sample that was in process with our framebuilders as the aquisition of the brand was in progress, so we’ve not had any direct input into it’s design. But, a new bike is a new bike, and it’s good to try options and see what other people have come up with.
This is a 175mm travel El Guapo that uses a revised shock location position on the downtube to alter the progression of the high volume rear shock. Rate change is pretty much identical to the previous El Guapo model, so gives a plush feel with a nice bottom out firmness at the end stroke. Slacker head angle gives more stability, and a good BB height keeps everything tracking well.
This model won’t be making production, but we’re sampling elements of it on two new El Guapo models that we’re working on and we’ll keep you updated with details of those as they come through the process.
